Bu yıl 10. kez hayata geçirilmeye hazırlanan etkinliğe Türkiye ise 2010 yılında 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü’nün (Boğazi Köprüsü) ışıklarını 1 saat boyunca söndürerek geleceğe ışık tuttu. Daha sonra 2012 yılında Fatih Sultan Mehmet Köprüsü de dahil edildi. Son beş yıl içinde Topkapı Sarayı, Ayasofya Müzesi, Beylerbeyi Sarayı, Küçüksu Kasrı, Dolmabahçe Sarayı ve Saat Kulesi, İzmir Saat Kulesi, Sultanahmet Camive Ortaköy Camii gibi anıtsal yapılar kampanyaya katıldı ve Dünya Saati’nin önemli sembolleri arasında yerlerini aldı.
Tüm dünyayı tehdit eden bu ilklim değişikliği peki bizim ülkemizi nasıl etkiliyor ?
iklim değişikliğinin kaçınılmaz sonuçları olan suların yükselmesi, sel ve kasırga gibi olayların 19 mega kıyı kentinde yaratacağı 2100 yılına gelindiğinde bu hasarın yılda 40 milyar dolara ulaşması bekleniyor. İstanbul ve İzmir’de ise yıllık 15 milyar dolar hasar ortaya çıkabilir.
Hükümetlerarası İklim Değişikliği Paneli (IPCC), küresel iklim değişikliğinin ana nedeninin sera gazı emisyonlarında insan faaliyetleri sonucunda gözlenen artış olduğunu ortaya koydu. Başta kömür olmak üzere fosil yakıtların yakılması, atmosferdeki karbondioksit (CO2) oranının artmasındaki ana sorumlusu. Doğal kaynakların bilinçsizce tüketilmesiyle birlikte hava olayları gezegenin ısınmasına; kuraklık, seller, şiddetli kasırgalar gibi aşırı hava olaylarının sıklığına ve okyanus ve deniz suyu seviyelerinde yükselme meydana getirecek.
İklim değişikliğinin etkisi ile denize kıyısı olan şehir ve ülkeler suların yükselmesi ile oluşacak tehlike ile birlikte yok olma ile karşı karşıya kalacak. İklim değişikliği konusundaki küresel haberleri ile tanınan Climate News Network’un yayınladığı habere göre, iklim değişikliği Avrupa’daki mega kentleri tehdit ediyor.
Yapılan araştırmalara göre yükselen deniz sularından zarar görecek tehdit altında olan 19 şehir içerisinde İstanbul ilk sırada yerini aldı. Listenin 3. sırasında ise İzmir göze çarpıyor.
Eğer bu durumun önüne geçilmez ise İstanbul’da 2030 yılına gelindiğinde yıllık ortalama 201 milyon dolar hasara yol açması bekleniyor. Önlem alınmadığı taktirde 2100 yılındaki bu zararın 10 milyar dolara kadar çıkacağı ön görülüyor.
Bu yüzden insan neslinin Dünya’da varlığını sürdürebilmesi için ona iyi bakmak çevremize karşı daha duyarlı bireyler olarak hareket etmek zorundayız!

İklim değişikliğinden etkilenecek olan yerlerden birisi de Akdeniz Havzası. Burada yakın gelecekte yoğun sıcaklık ve kuraklık artışı bekleniyor. İnsan kaynaklı karbon emisyonlarının yaklaşık %15’i ormansızlaşma ve ormanların bozulmasından kaynaklanıyor.
